Esperanto is considered to be one of the languages one must learn in his or her lifetime. The language has about two million fluent speakers and the number is growing due to the language’s increasing popularity in several circles.

Esperanto is the most broadly spoken constructed international auxiliary language in the world. In Esperanto, the word Esperanto is defined as “one who hopes”. The constructed language was first introduced by Dr. L.L. Zamenhof in 1887 with the goal to create a flexible and easy language that would serve as a universal second language to uphold international understanding and peace. Zamenhof developed Esperanto for many years and he proposed Esperanto as a second language that would allow different people to speak various native tongues to communicate, as well as preserve their own cultural identities and languages.

Over the course of time, Esperanto has had continuous usage by a community estimated between a hundred thousand to two million speakers. The language is known to have a thousand native speakers. There is no country in the world yet that has officially embraced the Esperanto language as an official language however, Esperanto is widely used in world travel, correspondence, conventions, language instructions, cultural exchange, television, and other fields.

The number of people who speak Esperanto in a specific area may not be as much yet there are speakers that can be found in different parts of the world. The people who have learned to speak the Esperanto language are usually found to be concerned about peace and social justice, internationally-minded, and are doing actions that help preserve linguistic diversity in the world.

Some important information about the Esperanto language includes the following:

Esperanto is a politically unbiased language and it aims to help preserve minority cultures and languages;

Esperanto does not aim to replace anyone’s native language but aspires to serve as a universal second language for everyone;

Esperanto provides an opportunity to meet new friends and travel in different parts of the world;

Esperanto is a language that is fun to learn and to speak;

Esperanto can be learned in lesser time compared to any other language!

So why should you study Esperanto? Esperanto is a constructed language and it can be used in very important situations where knowledge of the language is required. It is easy to learn and it also promotes peace and unity across cultures and languages! If you want to study languages and you want to try something unusual, study Esperanto now!

There are more and more people all over the world who are studying languages for purposes that will make their lives fruitful in the future. Having the ability to speak more than one language allows more opportunities in different fields whether for educational, leisure, or career purposes. Being able to communicate with more than one language makes one a step ahead of others who can only speak one.

Everyone can study new languages yet not everyone can study particular languages in the same way. People of all ages can study languages yet various research show that studying languages while still young is more beneficial that starting at an older age. Children who are still young are more likely to learn languages naturally compared to adults and if children are exposed languages when they are younger, they will be able to optimize their learning potential and shape their brains during their most flexible stage.

Many experts say that early childhood is the best time to acquire languages since the ability to learn languages easily diminishes with age that is why it is ideal to start young. Children can acquire native-like fluency in other languages as easily as they learned to do their first motor skills compared to adults who have to work through their established first-language system in order to learn other languages. Children who still have young and flexible brains can acquire languages naturally since they can easily build language systems alongside their first language through absorption of sounds, patterns, intonations, structures and language rues as intuitively as how they learned their native tongue.

So why do we let children study languages while they are still young? Researchers have found that people lose the ability to hear and reproduce new sounds by age eight to twelve which results into a permanent foreign-sounding accent in any language. Young children can still benefit from flexible speech and ear muscles that can still hear the significant differences between the sounds of a second language as well as imitate them with native-like quality.

Different kinds of research have revealed that children who study languages while still young grow to show enhanced spatial relations and problem solving skills, have higher elementary and SAT test scores, and stronger communication skills. There are parents who are concerned that letting children study languages while they are still young may interfere with their developing first language skills but then that is not exactly the case. Children can distinguish the difference between two languages during their first weeks of life and learning another language will actually boost their overall verbal development.

Researches have also found that children gain additional cognitive benefits if they study languages while still young. Children who study languages show higher cognitive performance in overall basic skills in elementary school, have heightened creativity, exhibit better problem solving skills, and many more. Children who study languages also tend to develop flexible thinking and communication skills which can help them consider various issues from more than just a single perspective.

Studying languages while still young can help children develop a better understanding of the world and different cultures as well as bridge gaps with other people from different parts of the world. Children will have the ability to understand and appreciate other people and cultures if they can communicate in more than a single language.

If you are a parent, teacher, or guardian to young children, better take into consideration of letting them study languages while they are still young so you can help them equip themselves with essential tools for the future – languages!

It is inevitable that we should have reasons when studying languages – these reasons give meaning to why we take up language learning and they help guide us in achieving our goal of learning new languages.

Each and every one of us may have varying reasons but the following are the most common reasons why people study languages:

•	Culture. Studying a foreign language exposes learners to different cultures and it gives them the opportunity to learn more about those cultures and develop appreciation for them.

•	Academic skills. Studying foreign languages can have a direct effect on the development of cognitive processes and language helps expand a learner’s range of thinking.

•	Education. Many people study languages in order to become educated in languages. Languages can also be used to further their academic ambitions.

•	Business. Studying languages is useful for business especially when trading with clients and partners from different countries. Being able to communicate in another language is a plus since it bridges gaps and allows better trading.

•	Creativity. Speaking more than one language enhances a language learner’s creativity and it allows multiple language speakers to become more creative in their endeavors.

•	Aesthetics. Some languages are beautiful and language learning has an artistic and aesthetic value.

•	Diversity. Studying more languages allows language learners to learn more about languages and cultures and promote these to other people and help encourage diversity.

•	Accessibility. People who study foreign languages have the opportunity to access various information available only in the language they are studying. It also gives them the chance to communicate with more people.

•	Career. There are a lot of career opportunities for people who can communicate in more than one language. Translators and interpreters can work in local agencies or government offices or they can go abroad and work where they and their language skills are needed.

•	Critical thinking. Studying foreign languages exposes language learners to different cultures thus they become more aware of other traditions and practices. It also allows them to think critically in the sense that they are open to new ideas and have developed different viewpoints.

There are more reasons to study languages and they may differ according to each language learner. If you were to study languages, what are your reasons?

The introduction of the OPOL (one person, one language) tactic is gaining popularity worldwide. It works well to begin teaching them to growing children, and each parent’s role is in teaching one child one language for the time being. If the appropriate person is the one to teach a child, like a parent to his/her child, it will be easy for the child to associate the language with the parent and adapt it in his/her daily life. Nowadays many people are getting into inter-marriages; that is two people with two different nationalities marrying each other, like an American man to an Asian woman. In case when each parent wants the child to be able to speak his/her language, then it is best to adopt the OPOL method. If the father is American he is going to speak English at all times to his child. If the mother is Asian she will be using her language when communicating to their child. That is how the one person one language works.

This strategy is flexible and adaptable for children being raised by bilingual parents, where each of them should be consistent with the individual language being used when communicating to their children. In return, it is up to the child/children which language he/she will prefer to use when communicating. The important thing is for the child/children to assimilate the languages being taught to them by their parents. This should be easy, but there is one common disadvantage in applying this method. There is the tendency of the child/children to speak in mix languages occasionally, so that they are likely to invent their own words. The minority language, which is the language native to one parent but not to the community, is usually the one that the child finds difficult to learn and apply. On the other hand, the majority language is what one parent and the community speaks, so that it becomes dominant therefore much easier for the child to apply because technically he/she is living with it.

Ultimately, children can actually become active bilinguals if the parents themselves impose firm learning and speaking of the two languages used by them. At the start children may more regularly speak what they prefer, but later on they can certainly able to speak both languages whenever they have to.

For a nation to be globally competitive and secured, the study and knowledge of foreign languages is important. Experts believe that increasing international tension and weakened economy cause the nation in need of more transparency in communication to different people. As a matter of fact, in the United States alone, the wide deficiency of knowledge in Asian and Middle Eastern languages is an immediate problem. Being a global leader it’s hard to maintain its position if it is incapable to be more conversant with the languages of foreign countries, thus hindering absolute communication.

According to a 2006 department release of education, around 200 million children attending school in China study the English language, while only twenty four thousand of its counterparts in the U.S. study the Chinese languages. The gap is significant, of which can be envisage a threatening competency.

On the deeper level, the study and knowledge of foreign languages has great impact on the international market. Several foreign countries like India, Britain, Singapore and Japan (among others) are closing the quality gap. They are offering products that are equally better and because of this, major countries like the US are forced to embrace new strategies for a more competitive market. In a competitive market where products are increasing in quality, leading countries need to be able to compete on communication and service, where language is a key in the aspect of interaction.

Globalization and technology are advancing the players in competitive markets. If major countries don’t have the language asset to employ, they leave themselves at huge disadvantage with countries where workers can manage with the knowledge of multiple languages.

The revolution of technology and communication is crucial, for it enables us to interact with people who don’t primarily speak the English language. In the international market, you are at great disadvantage if your competitor can speak the language of the customer and you don’t.

<img src="http://i64.servimg.com/u/f64/11/74/66/71/easy_l10.jpg" alt="Easy Languages" title="Easy Languages" / style="float:left;margin:3px"/>A lot of contributing factors make a language either easy or difficult to learn. Your local or inherent language is already a factor itself. It influences your ability to be able to speak another language or other languages. Basically your own language has its own grammar rules and distinctive sounds that are completely dissimilar with other languages. But it is generally a combination of two; your personal experience and the characteristics of the certain language you want to learn. It also has something to do with your learning skills. For a Filipino citizen, perhaps the easiest language he can learn and get around with fast is English. This is probably because the alphabet system and the manner it is applied in its usage are being used entirely the same way in both countries. Although Tagalog is the national language in the Philippines, and English is as it is in America and other European countries, still there is slightly any upsetting language barrier for it. Other factors can be taken account but it doesn’t make the central point here. On the other hand, for the English ones perhaps the closest language they will likely choose to learn is Spanish. Spanish is not difficult at all. You just have to focus on its rules of pronunciation and its noun and verb agreements, and then you’re all set. It is easier to read any Spanish words and say it correctly. Also, the alphabet is the same. So English and Spanish are two easy languages to learn that are both interesting and important. A great number of the Spanish vocabulary is practically familiar that it is implausible for one to never have come across such words. It is only typical that languages are being used either from one language to another or vice versa, or borrowed from a similar source.

Another thing that counts when chasing easy languages is the availability of its resources for help and reference. There are a number of good products that make reliable resources out in the market such as books, CDs and audio tools. Even the internet has lots to offer as good resources. The fact is that, English and Spanish are two of the most common languages used as a second tongue and it now appears that these two languages are everywhere and easy to get the hang of. Other easy languages include Italian, French and Chinese. Yes, Chinese is not so bad to learn as long as you begin your right foot forward.

By becoming a part of something means living in it too. So if you find marvel studying a different language, you will find amazement traversing the culture as well. It helps a lot if you bring your self in connection to the root of its beginning. For instance, if you study Spanish, it will be more inspiring if you study it in Spain. Or if you want to do a ‘Språkresor’, the best way is to go to Sweden. But, if the means to do so is limited, you can sit still where you are, who ever said you cannot learn unless you are out there? How you can learn is entirely how you do the learning. The only advantage of being in the foreign land and studying the language of the place is that it gets you connected and involved. What’s more, if you actually study the language in its proper place you will learn more. Obviously the place can offer you a lot more than you can learn at your own pace. You will go smooth with a teaching method that can really get you in tune with all that you need to know. You will also have flexibility of your time as almost everything is set and arranged for you. Furthermore, it is easy to visit interesting destinations that enriches your lifestyle. Now, if it’s Spanish language that you choose to study, well, there are many awesome places in Spain that you should explore. You can even indulge in the cultural activities and sightseeing excursions that will engage you in the rich culture of the host cities, and discovering everything else in it such as the usual fiestas. And when you are through with your study for the day, you can enjoy relaxed conversations in Tapas bars and cafes, or simply take pleasant walks. So while you are making new friends, you are opening yourself to acquiring new knowledge too. You will gradually learn how they think and live. It is always easier and quicker to learn if you are seeing visible outcome, having more inspiration and most of all, having more fun!

<img src="http://i44.servimg.com/u/f44/11/74/66/71/learni12.jpg" alt="Important Things a Language Learner Must Have" title="Important Things a Language Learner Must Have" / style="float:left;margin:3px"/>Learning a new language can be a major struggle for some people but some take it up as a challenge and succeed in their goals in learning a new language. Learning a new language has many uses and advantages most of them, if not all, are to the benefit of the language learner. There are many ways to learn a language yet there are just three very important things which a language learner must possess: time, persistence and hard work.

Time is essential in learning a language. A language learner must make time for learning a new language. The learner should know where, in his or her list of priorities, is language learning situated. If it is among the top priorities of the learner, he or she should fit it on the schedule no matter how tight the schedule is. A learner must also know that learning a language takes a lot of time and it means it could take more than just a couple of weeks. Patience is certainly a virtue a language learner must possess.

Persistence is also one of the important things to be considered in learning a language. A language learner’s determination to learn the target language will enable him or her to have a full grasp of it. If a language has enrolled in a language program just to be called a language learner is pointless. A language learner must learn the language in order to be called one. If a language learner is persistent in learning, he or she will eventually be successful in the future!

After setting aside valuable time and having the determination to succeed, a language learner must involve hard work in order to be successful with his or her language learning goals. Putting in a lot of hard work means that the learner should start with a ‘Språkkurs’ and learn the vocabulary of the target language, practice the construction of grammar, and using the language in order to have a better command of it. Hard work together with time and persistence will surely drive the learner to a successful language learning experience!

So what are you waiting for? Learn a new language right now and be sure you have the essential qualities of a successful language learner!

It can be in a form of codes, words, signals, colors, sounds, actions and texts. Language doesn’t have to be in a form of words. If two people can understand and relay messages in any form then it is considered as a language. During my freshman year, my friend and I made a secret code for the two of us only. So, we could write and send messages to each other without letting the others know the meaning of the message. This code we made became our language in communicating for the next four years of stay in high school. Our friends then became interested in it and so we taught them the language. Until almost everybody in school knew the codes we made. Even our teachers became interested in it and ask us to decode the meaning of the language we use because so many students were using it at that time. Yet we decided not to let the teachers know the language or code we made so that we could talk about a topic and don’t let them know the meaning of it. The learning of this code we made was easy for our friends because they have the desire to know it immediately to be able to join our group discussion using the code or language that we made. My friends’ reason in learning the language we made is important to them at the time. We fell in love with the language we made that is why we had used it for4 long years in communicating.

In learning any foreign language you should have a strong desire to learn it. The reasons for learning it should be strong enough for you to be interested to learn it - be it wanting to make friends (say poker nights with Spanish people playing their “juegos de casino” or French cooking cuisine nights or Italian nights at the opera) or professional reasons. You can hire a tutor if you want, research all you want, enroll in a class eight a hours a day and yet you found yourself still can not be able to communicate through the language that you wanted to learn. This is because the desire you put in learning it is mediocre. Being mediocre could make the learning of the language very hard. The second easy way to learn a new language is to assess the need and reasons of learning it. If the need of learning a new language is very important like for example putting up a business in that new place or studying in that place then you push yourself to indeed understand the language. If the reasons of learning the language are not that important then your willingness to understand it is very low then understanding it will take a long time. The third easy way to learn a new language is to love it at first sight. Could we imagine ourselves being in love with something or someone? We wanted to know everything about that thing or person. We want to be updated with everything about it. We dream and imagine about that thing or someone. Then this thing or person would occupy our time almost everyday of our life. Falling in love with the language we wanted to learn is one sure, fast and easy way to learn it. If you fall in love with the language you also wanted to learn everything about the new language, you wanted to spend time getting to know the language, then you hire people to teach you how to get to know the language, then you enroll yourself in classes that could help you polish your new language. Then in a month or two you are learning the new language and communicating with it the easy way and with such speed that you talk with it as if you are native speaking that language.

<img src="http://i44.servimg.com/u/f44/11/74/66/71/verbal10.jpg" alt="A daily verbal communication" title="A daily verbal communication" / style="float:left;margin:3px"/>In our everyday life we of course used our daily verbal communication to let us communicate with our countrymen. Language is one of the reasons why we have a peaceful environment. Try to imagine a life without communication; it sounds boring and unhealthy living. Even mute people have their own unique communication but they still use the language through the use of body movements. Whether we like it or not it’s our obligation to learn our respective language for us to have a word to communicate. It is not necessary that we will study all the different languages in this world, but as long as we understand other people well it is enough. But we still try to study the languages which we use for international communication, such as English language. It is not mean that when we study that language we will then forget our own dialect, but still we need to remember and study the accurate language we have. Studying a language is a nice idea for us especially for business person. It seems that business person needed to travel other country for investing something; they must study and learn the language of a country where they want to travel. Investors are the people who travel across the country just to invest some business, but investors can’t easily invest without knowing the language which is the most important in negotiating a business.

Aside from business, studying a language is also important for students. Now let us talk about schools. Most of our schools nowadays are required to use a common language for student’s communication. And students are also obliged to use the language as well. In the country of Spain, the majority of there school are obliged to teach students the common language we have so that sooner or later they can compete to foreign people. To learn a language is not very easy especially if that language you study is not your own dialect. We need to give the best effort we have for us to learn the accurate language we want. Effort is the best way to learn languages; we have to try to learn. And to study a language is quite difficult yet enjoyable. Example English language, when you study English there is subject which we called it the accurate pronunciation. In that time teacher must taught students the exact technique how to pronounce a word, and it’s the time that you will use the different mouth movements. It is sound interesting if you experience the different mouth movements yet enjoyable to do so.

There are times that students feel bored in studying because of some reason that they can’t easily get the language well. But the teacher must do something for the students to learn fast about the language. Though English is the best language for us to learn since it is the only language where all people in this world understand each other. But still it’s up to you if you want to know the international language we have now.
